Thanks for this! I have not been to Ontario since I was a young kid. :( I know I have been to some of these regional, small cities you traveled through but it’s been a while. Really interesting write up.

Thanks Joseph! How about a bike and train loop around Lake Erie? 😉

I’d Love that! 😆

Impressive!

I can relate to the Canadian experience somewhat as I visited the area you wrote about in the early 1980s. Unfortunately, I don’t remember very much. I remember being in Hamilton and Oakville. The photo on my profile page at Amazon with my dog was most likely taken in Oakville. Incidentally, my last stop before re-entering the U.S. was Niagara Falls.

Next, I didn’t know GO operated transit buses, although I should have assumed as much.

Lastly, I’m curious: is coast-to-coast passenger-train service in Canada even possible anymore?

Thanks Alan! GO Transit is already quite impressive for North America, and it’s expanding in all directions.

Absolutely: you can ride VIA Rail coast to coast to coast. Vancouver to Toronto, then Toronto to Montreal, and then Montreal to Halifax. That gives you the Pacific to the Atlantic. Then, there is a train service between Winnipeg and Churchill in Manitoba that connects to the Arctic Ocean. The latter is still on my bucket list.

Thank you! It’s a bit difficult to make it happen logistically, but certainly double.
