Another great article. So many memories. But wow! Sad to hear service has been rolled back so much. Part of me isn’t that suprised though. I know there have been major hits to the economy since I have been there.
Sad to read that Cleveland’s transit is in decline.
There seems so much promise there. Cleveland, I’ve heard, has one of the best bus rapid transit (BRT) systems in America. It’s known as the HealthLine. According to Wikipedia, HealthLine ridership peaked in 2014 with 5.08 million rides taken. In 2023, meanwhile, HealthLine registered 1.7 million rides. The effect of Covid no doubt had a outsized negative effect.
Hopefully with new trains on the way, when these become opertional and take on passengers, ridership will recover.
Thanks for your comment, Alan. I was thinking whether I should mention the Health Line - I probably should have. It’s the second busiest route in the entire RTA system, after the Red Line. Although I didn’t have a chance to ride it, the buses used on this line have doors on both sides, which is rather unique.
Thank you

Hopefully, the new train rolling stock will boost ridership
